Total Eclipse of the Croweds

When we started planning our eclipse adventure we were of two minds: head for the hills or head for the crowds. We started casing out hiking trails and imaging capturing long exposures of the eclipse over mountains and trees.

But … this didn’t seem to be a moment just about nature. This, excuse all of the cheese, seemed to be a moment about humanity. I know, I’m rolling my eyes as well. But this has been a rough time for our country – racism and sexism aren’t anything new, but they sure are bubbling up these days in vicious ways. We need some healing - and while an eclipse isn’t going to do it, an eclipse is, in someways, a reminder that we all share this planet.

So, we headed towards the crowds. We woke up at 4am and drove to a Totality Town, with the goal of not just capturing the eclipse, but also capturing reactions. Here are a few from when the eclipse began - I love all of the “HOLYMOLY” faces of the crowd. More to come, as well as more stories.
